Reconnecting in the Woods: Highlights from The Wedding Collective Retreat (TWCR) 2026

As wedding planners, photographers, stylists, and event creators, our work is defined by pouring our hearts, energy, and creativity into other people’s milestone moments. But to consistently deliver extraordinary experiences for our clients, we also need spaces to pour back into our own cups.

From July 13 to 15, 2026, AWP Malaysia hosted The Wedding Collective Retreat (TWCR) 2026 at the serene The Shanmuli in Bentong. Designed around the theme “In the Woods,” the 3-day, 2-night getaway brought our creative family together to pause, reflect, recharge, and celebrate the strength of our community.

Here is a look back at the unforgettable moments that made this year’s retreat so deeply restorative.

1. The Art of Taking a Pause: Self-Discovery & Art Therapy

After warm check-in hellos and light icebreakers, we stepped straight into our opening afternoon session: Self-Discovery through Journaling and Art Therapy with Coach Joanne Wong (@coachwjo).

Without the pressure of event timelines or deadlines, participants were invited to explore quiet self-reflection through art making and journaling. The session offered a rare, therapeutic sanctuary for business owners and creatives to process their journeys, express themselves freely, and practice self-healing. As Coach Joanne reminded us, taking a pause isn’t a luxury—it’s an essential part of our craft.

2. Rest, Rejuvenation & Lymphatic Care

Morning rituals at The Shanmuli were designed to reconnect our minds and bodies with nature. Led by Estelle (@goodvibes_vrx), participants lay upon the soft grass for an unhurried, 60-minute Outdoor Nature Sound Bath, soaking in restorative sound frequencies amidst the gentle breeze and forest sounds.

Following breakfast, Estelle shared practical, invaluable insights on Lymphatic Care—a timely and necessary guide for event professionals who spend long hours on their feet during high-pressure wedding seasons.

3. Team Building & Community Power

A truly meaningful retreat balances inner quiet with shared joy. Through structured team-building exercises and hands-on group tasks, participants stepped out of their comfort zones, solved challenges together, and forged deeper bonds of trust.

This sense of community was at the very heart of TWCR 2026. Thanks to generous support and sponsorships from within our own AWP vendor network, we were able to make the retreat accessible to more members—proving once again that when we lift each other up, our whole industry thrives.

4. Gala Night in the Woods

To crown an extraordinary 3-day experience, we gathered on our final evening for an intimate Gala Night in the Woods. Dressed in earthy, nature-inspired tones, attendees enjoyed a bespoke 5-course dinner specially curated by La Casa Catering and Event Services (@lacasa.kl). Inspired by the forest setting, each dish was a culinary work of art that brought the magic of the wilderness straight to our tables.

Surrounded by warm ambient lighting, unfiltered conversations, and heartfelt laughter under the stars, the evening gave everyone a chance to connect heart-to-heart before returning to their businesses with renewed passion and clarity.

Gratitude to Our AWP Family

A massive thank you to every organizer, sponsor, speaker, and participant who brought TWCR 2026 to life. Most importantly, thank you to all our attendees for showing up so authentically and being fully present throughout this journey.

Here’s to carrying these memories, restored spirits, and deeper connections forward as we continue elevating Malaysia’s wedding industry together! 🌿✨
