Coordination Redefined: Highlights from The Wedding Collective Workshop

True event coordination is so much more than checking off items on a timeline—it’s an art rooted in mindful communication, seamless structural flow, and holding a calm, grounded space for everyone involved.

Hosted by The Wedding Collective and officially endorsed by the Association of Wedding Professionals (AWP) Malaysia, our full-day masterclass Coordination Redefined brought together a wonderful, passionate cohort of wedding coordinators and creative planners eager to elevate their craft with purpose and intention.

Shared Wisdom: Leading with Heart & Strategy

The masterclass was led by two passionate advocates for intentional celebration and creative mentorship:

  • Laverne Chee (Founder & Lead Planner, Eventistry): Laverne shared Eventistry’s core philosophy on eco-conscious planning, sustainable workflow design, and maintaining a serene, reassuring presence when navigating high-pressure wedding day logistics.

  • Cheryl Kheng (Co-Founder & Lead Stylist, Wishhper): Cheryl brought her decade-long experience in bespoke styling and empathetic coordination, focusing on how genuine human connection, active listening, and guest care turn complex events into effortless memories.

Core Pillars of the Masterclass

Designed around real-world application, the workshop moved beyond standard event management to explore how thoughtful planning creates a positive impact for couples, vendor teams, and the environment:

  1. Mindful Timeline Architecture: Creating smooth, unhurried event flows that give couples space to be truly present while allowing vendor teams to perform at their best.

  2. Empathetic Guest Care & Atmosphere: Cultivating a warm, welcoming environment through attentive communication, cultural sensitivity, and intentional design.

  3. Collaborative Vendor Synergy: Building strong, respectful partnerships behind the scenes so every moving part works in harmony.

  4. Sustainable Execution: Encouraging mindful practices—from reducing single-use event waste to prioritizing crew wellness—so our industry can thrive for generations to come.

Growing Together with Purpose

Endorsed by AWP Malaysia, this workshop embodies our shared commitment to uplifting local wedding talent through continuous education, mentorship, and sustainable growth.

A heartfelt thank you to every participant who showed up with an open mind and a passion for learning. Seeing the next generation of event leaders invest in intentional, heart-centered coordination gives us so much hope for the future of Malaysian weddings!

We can’t wait to see these redefined coordination principles brought to life in your upcoming celebrations. 🌿✨
